  3. Hi, I'm Kawthar Al Sayed I'm also as my friends 18 years old. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister and I'm the youngest. I have been learning English since my KG I at Al Mustafa High School. The most obvious unique thing about me from my outer appearance as a contrast to my brothers and sister is that they're all blond with blue eyes. Usually in our society, we see that the blue-eyed child is the unique one since he's different. And I honestly like the fact that I'm not blue-eyed but still different. And from the Intrapersonal side, I also see my self different and more motivated than my school friends because I had put a certain learning goal and I'm seeking to achieve it while they didn't. And some of them had actually dropped out of university. I really enjoy writing in our class blog and read my classmates' posts over and over again. It lets us know each other better than before. According to my hobby, I enjoy writing Arabic poems and I have plenty of them in my diary. I also like all kinds of sports that allow me to socialize with other people.
My Motto is: "Only a life lived for others is a life worth living."

  4. Dear readers, my name is Narjes Jaafar, 18 years old and majorly a happy person. My family is a quite big one; 4 sisters and 1 brother and more blessed to have my dad and mom dedicating themselves to our happiness and best interest. My sisters and I fight like hell in one minute then roll on the floor laughing another minute, it's impossible to imagine life without the silliest details and moments we share.I'm a Rawdah High School graduate class of 2012, I thought the end of the world is coming before I can have the chance to throw my graduation cap in the air or wave my family and friends like its been forever since I last saw them, but 2012 seems just the beginning to me.I was nominated by my teachers for "The perfect Student" award! I'm all positive energy ,it's very ordinary to find me laughing at 7:00am!I allow myself to dream high and never underestimate the things I can do such as becoming a doctor. I am a sophamore majoring in biology (pre-medical student) and surprisingly I am passionate about the things I learn! I am a very extroverted person, bond and make friendships easily with people ,and share feelings and thoughts.I like hanging out with my friends and making fools out of yourseles.I like sports and spending time at the gym, I participated in "IRunBeirut,5km Nike race" and won a 10Km medal in Beirut Marathon last month for the "Children Cancer Center in Lebanon" as a cause.I like watching tv shows such as: Friends, The Simpsons, How I Met Your Mother,The doctors Show..I'm a feminist and believe that women who strive to be equal to men obviously lack ambitions. My motto or one of the many I have, is " If what you did yesterday seems big,you haven't done anything today". Obviously ,you can infer my talkativeness

  5. Hello, I am Sherine Salam, from Lebanon and I love every region of it! I really do. I am 18 years old although I still feel too young, in terms of the “young spirit” I still sense. Maybe this goes back to the fact that I’m the youngest in my family that consists of 3 girls and 2 loving parents. (I LOVE my parents, we’re more of best friends). Anyways, I live in Beirut and this is my first semester at the Lebanese American University, majoring in business, and I’m loving it so far. I don’t have a specific hobby, but I enjoy swimming, sports, biking(on a 4wheels bike, unfortunately), and of course spending time with the ones I love. I love my friends. I’m not the kind of person that enjoys any company. I am picky yet loyal to my friends that I’ve known most of them for at least 10 years from now! So yes, we’re like sisters and brothers, sharing A LOT of memories from elementary school till now. But of course, I’m always interested in meeting new people. I like viewing new mentalities and I love arguing with friends that think in a different way. And if I was “smart” enough, it’ll end up me convincing him/her with my ideas. I think it’s really healthy and to argue or negotiate with people about topics that everyone of us view differently, in a respectful manner indeed. I’ve been studying English for about 14 years. And in my 14th year, English is more fun now with Mrs.Habre! I’m interested in reading books (Arabic mainly) and I’ve written some Arabic short stories. I enjoy writing. It’s a passion more than a duty. What else would you like to know about me? Well, I would like to know more about me. I think I’m still and will always keep on discovering myself. So I think tomorrow I’ll be introducing myself in a different way from today. However, one of my inspirational quotes or motto is :” Never regret anything that once made you smile.” 

  6. "Death twitches my ear. "Live", he says, "I am coming," by Virgil .Trying to live life to the fullest... I am from Lebanon and I have never traveled before in my life, hopefully one day I will have the opportunity to do so. Saint Mary's Orthodox College, where I studied for 15 years, has been a life-changing experience that has helped me build my character. I am 18 years old , and I am now studying computer science at LAU and it looks promising , for I am a big fan of computers. Basketball is a key factor in my life, for I like watching the pros play and occasionally playing a few games with my friends. If I am not going out with my friends, I usually spend my free time watching movies and series . I have a close relationship with my family members, for they play an important role in my life.

  7. Hello everyone, my name is Nadia Mneimne and I am from Lebanon. I have two younger brothers and precious parents who worked hard to let us achieve the highest level of knowledge and education. I’ve been to three different schools and now I’m studying at the Lebanese American University (LAU). Through my educational years, I’ve been studying English, as well as French and Arabic. I am a sophomore majoring in Business emphasis on Hospitality Management. On the other hand, I am a very picky and organized person that likes everything to be perfect. Sometimes, people misjudge me from my appearances and think that I’m not friendly, but once they get to know me, they’ll realize how it’s the complete opposite. I love singing and dancing; and if fashion was a crime, then I’m a victim. Speaking of fashion, I have an Instagram account, which is a social network where people post their pictures and everybody in the world can see them. I post my own fashion pictures on Instagram and actually have 19,000 followers who love my photos. I think that I’m the only Lebanese who have made it to the popular page on Instagram more than 10 times, which is extremely difficult because you have to get more than 500 likes in like 20 minutes.
My Motto is: “Happiness will never come to those who fail to appreciate what they already have”, because everyone must be thankful to what they’ve got instead of complaining. We also should never forget that there are many people out there, suffering and wishing to live the life that you have.
I wan to thank Mrs. Paula for this English course because it’s completely different. She focuses on letting students express their opinions and listening to each other, which wasn’t the case in my educational years. In addition, the blog was a very clever idea because I got to know stories about my colleagues that I may have never heard about if there was no blog.

    1. Yeah , If people had no worries at all and had the chance to judge others 24/7 they would definitely go for it. And i really love your bold sense of fashion i love it when you come into class wearing new outfits , it's nice to be different .

  8. I'm having a hard time beginning my description.Although i keep a journal in wich i describe so much about what goes on around me.I think I'm at this phase of my life when I'm starting to discover more about myself and am trying to find out who I am and who i want to be.I'm 17 now and i think what's mostly clear to me up til now is that i give my all and perform my best when i'm doing what i love which is applied Arts , as in painting drawing sketching doing crafts and even filming or writing songs.Anything creative and through which i can express myself calls my name (which ,by the way, is Mira).I've moved countries many times which made me miss Beirut, where i consider my self from, a lot.
My Art is mostly related to Beirut.weither it's the Beirut buildings or its streets or the people i know that live in it , it all inspires me so much. I don't really have a motto , i actually don't know how to label my actions ,i just do what ever feels right and natural or what ever i feel i should do. So here it is,my written portrait. Hopefully i'll live more to add to it ten years from now.

  9. Aloha! My name is Tarek Khalil and I'm from Lebanon. I have 2 sisters and one brother, all of them are married and live in the US. I studied in College Notre Dame Jamhour for 10 years and graduated from College Elysee. I'm a French educated student so I find little difficulties to express my self in English even though I studied this language for 10 years. Now I'm an LAU student trying to have my BS in Business. I found it hard at first because it was a huge change in the education methods and language, but with time, it became easy with the help of all my teachers who tried to make the materiel easier to understand.
I don't like to sit on a desk for hours and read and write and do exams. I prefer to do technical stuff and work and create new things. Every one tells me that I have a vast imagination and great potential that I can use to improve. But after all, education is necessary and no one can go further in life without it.
I joined the scout movement in my school where I spent 10 amazing years, and learned many principles in life and they helped me to work on my self and become the man I am today. One of these principles was to always smile even in the hardest moment of your life. Positive attitude always brings positive results. I always try to look at the bright side of things instead of the gloomy on.
One of my best inspirational quote is : " Try and leave this world a little better than you found it and when your turn comes to die, you can die happy in feeling that at any rate you have not wasted your time but have done your best."

I spend a lot of time playing sports especially Gym and football. Also i try to learn all kinds of sports in which recently I am learning how to play tennis and MMA. 11. I'm Khaled Eid an 18 year old at LAU. I'm no different than any other student here at LAU, although I tend to be. I'm not outstanding in any way, but I try to think different than everybody. I try to "follow the path less taken" but it doesn't seem any different. I come up with my philosophies about little things but I'm left with insipid ideas. I believe in positive energy and good thinking. " Being a gentleman never runs out of style" is my mantra, a guideline I try to live by and pass on to others. I like to have rich vocabulary and I like using it. Between my close friends, I value things they find colorless. I like change and tend to influence it sometimes. I don't want to float through life, I would like to revolutionize my time on earth. I have no favorite color, song, movie, or favorite anything basically, accept for the number 5. I may seem dull and lame, but there's life running through my veins!

    1. I think what's unique about you is not knowing how unique you are! I always remind my friends (most of them) that they should be gentlemen but they go and blame the turkish series for my attitude :(

  12. Adnan Hassoun Is A Very Charismatic Character.
He is an 18 year old student at the Lebanese American University in Beirut. Describing Adnan's outer appearance he is 181 cm tall fit guy with black hair, brown eyes, and beige skin. Exploring his character you find yourself puzzled; he acts differently according to each situation's basic need. Enjoying life as it is, and trying to get the best out of it it what he always tries to do.
As I pass through the stages of live, I explore it with ambition. Always ready for any challenge, and i always try to reassemble "life's puzzle". Majoring in Economics which in I find myself admiring the material and a strong correlation with my personality. Hopefully i have a vision in which I believe that I will influence my country's economy somehow to a better off situation. I have a strong relationship with my friends whom i like to spend my time with like going out to movies, playing PS3 , cruising , having lunch or dinner, and playing football or basketball. Speaking of sports; football and basketball are essential elements of my life. I play football 3 times a week, I watch football everyday trying to develop my skills and train accordingly. I also play basketball occasionally. Answer the question of whats unique about me? I am always definite about looking at the "full-half" of the cup instead of the "empty-half" because I believe that there is a positive side of everything. I am a very grateful person and im happy with what I have. I am a believer, goals can be accomplished through commitment and consistency. My motto:“It Ain't How Hard You Hit…It’s How Hard You Can Get Hit and Keep Moving Forward”.

  13. They say no one knows you best than yourself. Truth is, I believe that even though we're 18, sometimes it feels like we don't know ourselves well enough, at least I don't; but I'm going to begin with what I do know. I am an LAU student just like everyone else here. My major is business marketing and I have always wanted that major since I was 15. I love photography and I enjoy taking pictures of random people and things. I use photos as a way to express myself. In addition to that, I am interested in volunteering in NGOs. In fact, I volunteered in the children's cancer center here in Lebanon for about a year and half. Both of my grandparents passed away from cancer so i thought it would be something thoughtful of me to do. It turned out to be one of the best experiences ever. I learned a lot of things there more than any school can ever teach. The sad thing is, that split second you look into the children's eyes, you realize that they're much more alive than any of us. That feeling i get after helping the children in any way is just priceless. Family is the most important thing to me. I have 2 sisters and a brother and I wouldn't imagine my life without them.I am a firm believer in destiny and I believe that everything happens for a reason. I love watching series(One Tree Hill is my favorite series of all time) and I enjoy watching movies too except horror ones( they freak me out at night). Music never fails to change my mood and I'm talking about the "Bon Jovi" kind of music. My motto is " know thyself" because as I said before, there's still so much more that I need to figure out about me.

  15. I’m Mounir Tabbara, turned 19 years old yesterday, I am from Ras Beirut. I study business marketing at the Lebanese American University in Beirut. I used to be the captain of the junior basketball team in my school, I used to practice daily. I earned 3 medals before I got injured. My injury led me to stop playing basketball for 2 years because it was a severe damage in my knee. That was one of the shocks I’ve had in my life because basketball was a dream. But now I fulfill my time in engines and cars, I am a fan of speeding and drifting to some extent, highways is my zone. I know it is dangerous but life has no sense without risk, in addition to the mechanical sport I play the piano, my mom tought me how to play it and read the nota. Red is my favorite color because it represents the sweetness and love that come out from people. I am a social person, I don’t mind having friends from different culture or different religion that’s a reason why I have a lot of friends that I can’t live without them; they boost me up with energy during sorrow and they are available anytime I need them. I always thank god because these people are around. I rarely watch TV because it is a waste of time, I fill up my time on the highways or texting with friends if I don’t have exams. My family is everything to me, we have close relation between each others. I am an active person, I love to end everything fast and before its time.
