Here is a photo that I took of classmates and teachers at the end of a school year showing the friendliness of faculty posing with their students. At my Alma Mater, we rarely felt a distance between the teachers and ourselves.

I picked those two pictures because each of them represent my last years in the two schools I went too. The first one was taken in my first school Lycee Verdun.. We didn't wear any uniforms to show us as an entity but we didn't need them we were already close and united till now. The second one, is my senior year in College St.Elie.. we had a specific uniform so that we all be equal but we didn't really need it because we cared about each other beyond materialistic conditions.
Pictures like these are amazing.. I have the same pictures. And according to the uniform issue, well we had a uniform since our KG1 and for the the same reason inorder to be equal with our friends.
DeleteIn my old school College Louise Wegman, we had to wear uniforms which I found annoying.. However, you are right, it would be more right to wear uniforms in order to treat students equally and avoid dress code problems (especially for girls).
DeleteI used to be annoyed to. But when I started university I found it so hard and confusing to wake up and pick something different everyday, something you didn't wear the whole past week, and something that fits to your hand bag or your copybook :p
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteAnnoyed too*
DeleteI'm really sorry for the spellings.
In Kawthar's case i think its annoying because you used to wear the same uniform every single day since day one.. & Nadia, what you said is so true because girls get jealous very easily so they start to imitate each other which can cause big problems between them but also wearing the same uniform everyday is really annoying and boring. However, I personally don't know which one is the best, a school with a uniform or not.. but I guess it depends on the school and the students as well.
DeleteKawthar; what you said about picking clothes make sense after all, but here's a solution.. pick them at night so in the morning you have nothing else but to wear them... I do it since school days, but i always end up late !!!
DeleteKawthar you are right haha! But I love fashion so I wouldn't mind at all!
DeleteNemaat, I agree with you. However, what I meant by "especially girls" is that sometimes they were shorts or anything that might be inappropriate for school..
Yeah true, and brands stuff also can cause problems.. so they all try to wear the same thing thinking it would make them cool.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteIt's the same case in universities, the only difference is that teachers and supervisors can't share their opinions with you by telling you what's appropriate to wear and what's not!
DeleteNeemat and Nadia, fashion ofcourse is much cooler but it's really annoying sometimes :p like that time when I was wearing white and the architecture design people colored me by accident yellow and red :p And the disaster is when you find a girl wearing the exact same! That's a big problem ;p
DeleteLadies, you have touched upon an important debate; to have a uniform or not against individuality and distinct character.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if its going to work because I'm on my phone..
-This Picture is in my physics session with an English novel on my lap. I used to read stories secretly inorder to improve my english and be accepted at LAU. Its a way I invented by myself to benefit myself.. :)
I am surprised.. all your efforts and reading actually worked, you'are an LAU student. I like the fact that you used to read books secretly because that was what you really want, it's like your dream and not someone obligated you to do it.
DeleteI tried to open the link, but I failed. Anyways, the comment you posted left me really impressed at your persistence. Your hard work was worth it at the end!
DeleteDear Neemat and Sherine, its really something amazing to feel satisfied of following a dream.. It might be silly to some people but you can't imagine the feeling that comes to me after reading and feeling that I actually did something!
DeleteYour picture reminded me when I used to read Twilight during classes. I also used to sit in the corner of the class so no one could see me.
DeleteIt's inspiring to see that you have worked hard in order to get accepted in LAU and that you have actually accomplished that!
Nadia yes indeed the corner is the best place to enjoy reading and keep watching the teacher every second inorder not to be caught.. :D
DeleteI admire your consistency kawthar,
DeleteI wish you the best of luck at LAU, and im sure you will become a great inspiring teacher that would influence the system to the best. :)
Thank you Adnan I really appreciate it and wish you the best of luck as well..:))
DeleteDear Kawthar,
DeleteI love your picture reading in a physics class! It is a true example of intrinsic motivation without any obligations. Nadia has prompted me to pay attention to corners in class!

ReplyDeleteThis photo was taken during the graduation ceremony ,with my teacher and classmates. In contrast to our hard-working school year, that time we were to "act" freely,no obligation to rules,no smothering of individuality :everyone goes crazy his/her way, and we all believe we can fly and our best is yet to come!
Since i went to the same school as Narjes, I can assure that our graduation ceremony was a night we will NEVER forget! It was so special and we were all the stars!
DeleteThe feeling of joy is clear in everyone's eyes; a truly stunning image!

ReplyDeleteThis photo was taken on our last day of school in 2012. It's a tradition in IC to have a "Fun Day" on the occasion of all graduates' last day of school. This photo reflects the friendly and fun ambiance in IC. Our theme this year was "Gangsters VS. Hippies"; and I was dressed like a gangster. We sang, danced, played games and at the end we had a huge water fight which was a lot of fun. My last day of school is one of the most unforgettable memories that I'll ever have.
I like the theme.. I guess each school has the same tradition every year, every promo actually, we call it " Journee Festive "
Deletei like the word lau printed on your forehead.
Deletehttp://img402.imageshack.us/img402/9403/b270v.jpg
ReplyDeleteThis photo has probably the same theme as Nadia's, it was on our last day of schoo. Melkart has the tradition to offer the senior students a day they call "Bizutage" where everything is allowed. Our theme was aliens vs army. Students, teachers, supervisors and even the dean all play with each other. This is supposed to be the best day of every senior student, however we ended up all crying because we were leaving. In this picture you can see the dean hugging me, that shows how much we were all close to each other.

ReplyDeleteI've known Joanna since forever, this collage shows our friendship that started at school. The first photo was taken in class we were wearing our customized t-shirts, the second one was on our "bizutage" an annual event for seniors that takes place on our last class day, the theme was aliens vs army we were dressed up as army girls, the third one is from our yearbook in 2000 and the last one was on our graduation day taken from my phone minutes before we started.

The collage is such a good idea to show our picture as kids and on our graduation day. School is mainly what kept us this close to each other and I am grateful for having friends like you!! love you

I like the other side of you we couldn't see in class!Speaking of roses in december ,"Narcissus flower grows in winter" I heard from many farmers more than once and I saw in the midst of winter and harsh weather myself. To whoever my name seems weird, that's where it comes from, Narcissus flower!
DeleteIn the link I'll post I don't think what i reported is stated clearly, but more like implied where they mention that it's "mostly" spring-flowering.This link has quite interesting information I remember I was once asked about by Mrs. Paula or someone else I'm not that sure
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissus_(plant)
Going back to the topic, roses in december are not that hard to do or find just when you have a will :)
Khaled respect on the bucket of water picture!
DeleteKhaled which means everlasting in Arabic is a special name, and like Narjes you are the type of individuals who are not easily forgotten. I hope I can find more roses this December! I just love the quote!
DeleteI spent about a day thinking what picture to post, then i chose to post three pictures showing how me and my classmates shared a strong relationship IN and OUTSIDE the class. Friends make school fun! Don't they?

ReplyDeleteThis is a picture that was taken many years ago at College Protestant. This picture is very special to me. As you can see the students around me are wearing the blue CPF "tablier" which i always refused to wear because i was going through a terrible phase of only wearing pink...When i look at this picture I notice how much my friends and I have grown and how different we've become.Out of all girls sitting beside me i am only still close friends with one . Somehow it isin't people that change drastically but time that changes them and their relationships with others. Its beautiful though how a picture is able to remind you of all the possibilities.A picture can give you a memory for life , one that can make you wiser and remind you of the innocents and unjustified friendship you may lose one day. I can't believe that so many years have passed and that I am now attending university!
Exactly my thoughts Mira! The picture is really cute and we all go through that phase haha
DeletePictures are like a time capsule or reflecting milestones in your life journey. Do you know that graduation is known as "commencement" because it marks the beginning but not the end of your career, so there are more experiences awaiting you!

ReplyDeletePicture
In my post in task 2, I only wrote about the negative side of my school teachers. But of course I can't forget their interest in making us real men and women. Each time I see this picture, I remember the scene where all teachers were sitting in front and parents behind them. That moment was emotional for me and for my fiends since after that night, we never met our teachers again whom I think are responsible for what I became now.
wow it looks like a stunning graduation!
DeleteI agree with Hassan ,I loved the picture !However I see my teachers frequently I even have some attending my birthdays each year. What bothers me the most is that we ran out of chances to meet other great teachers like they are or to maintain a close relationship with them. Professors are usually formal and not really interested in us more than the ticking clock to end the lecture.
DeleteWOW
DeleteAmir,
DeleteThey have certainly had an impact on you,but I also think you have the foundation to be a special person!

ReplyDeleteFirst picture was taken on 2010. This was my English teacher back then and after that year, she quit teaching for good. We never actually listened to her lecture, even when she scolded someone they would disrepectfully ignore her. Here,we threw my friend's bag through the window.
second shot, this clearly shows students' irresponsibility and their underestimation for materials like arabic, geography and others. During exams, they end up looking like this.
The last picture is my favorite. It always reminds me that friends are the reason I miss school days. This picture summarizes the last 16 years of my life. Times pass by but memories held in pictures never fade away..

ReplyDeleteSkimming through my senior year photos..A tear accompanied a smile for the beautiful memoryof school. Despite all the tough times i experienced at school, now i know how amazing and how important it is. I would not mind repeating senior year all over again! It was an amazing one.
ReplyDeleteI thought one photo was definitely not enough to share about school, so i chose a couple that i loved most.
Photo number 1:
http://sphotos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/576620_10150834187534915_579419024_n.jpg
This photo was taken during our last days of senior year, you can see the strict uniform that i used to hate. But now waking up everyday to choose what to wear made me realize how important the uniform is other than the fact that it ensures equality among students. And after all you can see how we enjoyed ourselves no matter what. (Jamal is busy eating at the back haha)
photo number 2:

This photo simply describes itself. It was time to go crazy and enjoy ourselves. Each class had a specific customized shirt,Blue: Humanities and Philosophy. Red: Sociology and Economics. Yellow: Life Science. Purple : General Sciences.

Thank you.:)
Adnann, those are such amazing pictures! Especially the one with the colored shirts =)!
DeleteThankk youu so much:)
DeleteThe three photos are amazing Adnan. The second one is my favorite though because it shows how close we are. Those are definitely some unforgettable memories.
DeleteAdnan I too have realized how important the uniform is taking into consideration that now we have to pick our outfits every day. However you could have picked another picture without me eating in the background hahaa
DeleteAdnan, thanks for sharing very expressive pictures that say a million words!
DeleteJamal, you don't look like you have a great appetite!

DeleteI'd like to comment on the whole task for a change. I enjoyed this task in every way. It sure did unfold another side of each and every one of us in English 101. As well, it introduced to our peers another hidden person inside of us. I enjoyed sharing my memories and my diamond moments on this blog.
ReplyDeleteNOTE: In truth, I'm really not the calm quiet guy I am in class and I'm sure most of us if not all aren't either... :)

ReplyDeleteI had too many choices so I ended up doing a collage. The picture at the bottom was taken during my graduation. To me, this picture represents more than just students throwing their caps. The moment I threw my cap, a million thoughts roamed through my head. That moment, As I took a deep breath, I finally realized that school is really over and that the real world out there is waiting for me. A world where you're not going to be told what to do anymore, a world where each and everyone of us takes his own path, a world where nobody is going to follow you around and fix what you broke. I guess that scares a lot of us, doesn't it?As for the other 4 pictures, they were one of the best times I shared with my closest friends.
I love the collage; it is a way of combining your multiple feelings! It is time to stretch your wings now !

The first photo was taken last year with my economics teacher .When we were studying about agriculture .In that day the teacher taught us how to differentiate between vegetables that are treated with chemical and that are unhealthy and with vegetables that are organic and healthy to our body .Some students bought healthy organic carrots to class so that we taste them.
The second photo was taken last year where my chemistry teacher took to the diet center in order to learn more in how to balance our daily diet .
Your picture is relevant to the upcoming reading quiz on "A Fable for Tomorrow" about the use of chemicals and how the world is envisioned after that !

All of them are unforgettable moments that I spent with good friends and teachers who are considered as one family.
